How to use the template

  1. 1Tick the groupings you want and cross out the rest. Most couples keep 10 to 15.
  2. 2Write first names next to each shot. “Siobhán & Declan” works far better on the day than “Mum and Dad”.
  3. 3Fill in who needs a chair and anyone who should be kept apart.
  4. 4Give one copy to your photographer and one to your wrangler, the relative who’ll round people up.

Why it’s in this order

Grandparents go first so they can sit down. Each family starts with its biggest group and releases people a few at a time, so nobody is called back. It’s the same approach most wedding photographers use, and it usually halves the time family photos take. For filled-in versions, see the wedding family photo list examples. More on the order.

Want faces on it too?

The online planner lets you add a photo of anyone your photographer won’t know, works out the order for you, and sends it with one link.

Questions

Is this wedding family photo list template free?

Yes. Add your names, then print it or save it as a PDF from the print dialog. No sign-up.

What order is the template in?

The order photographers use: grandparents first, then each family from the largest group down to the smallest, so people are released as you go and nobody is called back.

Can I add my own groupings?

There are blank lines on the sheet for extra shots. If you want to add names, faces and custom groups, the free online planner does that and keeps the order right for you.
